Illinois’ congressional lineup will remain firmly Democratic after Tuesday’s elections. Incumbent members of Congress held onto their seats, while Democrats also won every open district without an incumbent on the ballot. Newly elected Democrats include Daniel Biss, La Shawn Ford, Patty Garcia, Donna Miller and Melissa Bean, who is returning to Congress after previously serving the Eighth District from 2005 to 2011. Reelected Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski said Democrats are ready to address tariff-related grocery costs, reverse Medicaid cuts and extend Affordable Care Act tax credits. Illinois’ three Republican representatives — Mike Bost, Darin LaHood and Mary Miller — also won reelection.
