State Senator Doris Turner is teaming up with Meridian to provide free turkeys to area residents ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The giveaway will take place Friday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. until noon at Greater All Nation Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, located at 1000 South 19th Street in Springfield.
Turkeys will be distributed at no cost while supplies last. There is a limit of one turkey per household, and identification will be required to distinguish households in each vehicle.
Turner, a Democrat from Springfield, said the event is an opportunity to give back to the community and help ensure families have a warm meal during the holiday season.
