Illinois drivers are seeing a small break at the pump. AAA reports the statewide average for regular unleaded fell to $4.64 a gallon Wednesday, down four cents from Tuesday and three cents below the average one month ago. Prices, however, remain sharply higher than last year, when Illinois drivers were paying about $3.23 a gallon. Neighboring states are still seeing lower averages. Wisconsin is at $4.15, Indiana is at $3.75, and the other states bordering Illinois are all under four dollars a gallon. Analysts say regional supply, taxes, and demand continue to shape the price gap.
