Memorial Specialty Care Cardiology has added a new physician to its team with the arrival of general cardiologist Dr. Sakiru Isa.
Isa specializes in treating heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias.
Memorial Senior Director of Clinical Operations Danielle Dillman said Isa’s experience will help expand access to advanced heart care in Decatur and central Illinois.
Isa earned his medical degree from the University of Ilorin College of Health Sciences in Nigeria, where he served as chief resident. He later completed an internal medicine residency at Michigan State University.
His additional training includes fellowships in geriatric medicine at the University of Arkansas, cardiovascular medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and interventional cardiology at Virginia Tech.
Isa said advances in cardiology have created more options for diagnosing and treating heart conditions, with the goal of improving patients’ quality of life.
He said he looks forward to working with the Memorial Specialty Care team and helping patients manage their heart health.
