A Taylorville home was heavily damaged by fire Wednesday night, and one firefighter was treated for minor injuries.
The Taylorville Fire Department says crews were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. October 28 to a reported house fire in the 1000 block of West Vine Street.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming from the front of the home. The heat was intense enough to melt siding on a neighboring house.
Crews deployed a master stream from a fire engine and used a hand line to protect nearby homes. Due to the size of the fire, a first alarm was called, bringing in mutual aid departments from across Christian County.
Firefighters worked for more than three hours to extinguish the blaze.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no civilian injuries were reported. One firefighter was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, treated and released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
