A Decatur woman is facing attempted murder charges after a stabbing near Oreana that left a 31-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 5,000 block of North Route 48 around 10:50 Tuesday morning. They found the man on the front porch of a residence with stab wounds to his shoulder and neck.
He was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a Springfield hospital for further treatment. Authorities have not received an update on his condition.
Investigators say the man and his girlfriend had been involved in a verbal argument that turned violent. The woman allegedly stabbed him with a knife.
Twenty-nine-year-old Haley Tobin of Decatur was arrested on charges of attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery. She was taken to the Macon County Jail.
Tobin was scheduled to make her first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit.
