Illinois communities and tourism businesses can now apply for a new round of state grant funding aimed at boosting local attractions and visitor spending. Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity say two-point-four million dollars is available statewide. The Tourism Attraction Grant Program accounts for one-point-eight million dollars, while the Tourism Private Sector Grant Program offers another 600-thousand. Eligible applicants may receive grants ranging from 15-thousand to 200-thousand dollars. Nonprofit applicants must provide a one-to-one match, while for-profit applicants face a three-to-one match requirement. State officials say the funding is designed to strengthen tourism and local economies.
