Decatur Memorial Hospital and University of Illinois Extension are partnering to offer a free class next month to help people learn more about managing diabetes.
The program, called “Diabetes in a Modern World,” will take place Thursday, November 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Classroom C at Decatur Memorial Hospital, 2300 North Edward Street.
The class will cover food choices that can help people meet their blood sugar goals. Participants will also learn about local diabetes services and have time to ask questions of diabetes professionals.
Organizers say the program will also discuss modern diabetes care technology and current trends in foods, drinks and supplements. Participants will have a chance to sample a simple recipe designed for people managing diabetes.
The class is open to people who have recently been diagnosed with diabetes as well as those who have been living with the condition for years.
There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is requested by Tuesday, November 3.
