Macon County residents will have an opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste during a collection event Saturday, October 24.
The Macon County Environmental Management Association will host the event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Farm Progress grounds.
Registration is required through the Macon Green website. Residents can also find a complete list of accepted and prohibited items on the website.
Accepted materials include oil-based paints, paint thinners, insecticides, antifreeze, pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, household batteries, lawn chemicals, e-cigarettes and vaping devices.
Weekly paint and electronics recycling events have ended for the season, but several Saturday collection dates remain scheduled before the end of the year.
Residents can check the recycling calendar through the Recycle Coach app or the recycling webpage to find upcoming local events.
