DECATUR, Ill. — Decatur Public Schools has officially named longtime coach and educator Jeremy Moore as the interim athletic director at Eisenhower High School.
Moore was recommended by Eisenhower administrators and approved by the Board of Education on October 13. He will serve in the position through the remainder of the 2026–27 school year.
A 1990 graduate of MacArthur High School, Moore has spent more than 25 years coaching and teaching within Decatur Public Schools.
Moore is best known for his eight seasons as Eisenhower’s head boys basketball coach from 2001 to 2009, compiling a 113–103 record, according to IHSA records.
During that stretch, Moore guided the Panthers to three regional championships and a sectional title.
His 2006–07 team finished 24–8 and advanced to the Class AA super-sectional, falling just short of a state tournament appearance with a 63–60 loss to O’Fallon.
The following season, Eisenhower finished 28–1, capturing another regional championship behind future Purdue guard Lewis Jackson.
Moore began his coaching career at Eisenhower in 1997 as a freshman boys basketball coach. He later coached sophomore boys basketball, golf and boys soccer while also serving as a physical education teacher.
A graduate of Millikin University, Moore also played basketball for the Big Blue before returning to earn his teaching certification.
“We are excited to welcome Jeremy Moore as the Eisenhower High School interim Athletic Director,” DPS Superintendent Dr. Nicole Nash Moody said. “Moore has more than 25 years of experience coaching and teaching physical education for the Decatur Public School District. We look forward to seeing how he uses his expertise to help grow the outstanding athletes at Eisenhower High School.”
Moore says he is looking forward to taking on a leadership role within a school where he has spent much of his professional career.
“I look forward to working with coaches and our athletic programs, and sharing my experience and direction I have gathered during my 25 years as a coach and physical educator,” Moore said.
Moore’s appointment will keep him in the interim athletic director position through the conclusion of the current school year.
