Ameren is providing an additional $10 million to help eligible customers in Illinois and Missouri pay their energy bills as households and businesses face rising costs.
The funding will replenish and restart several assistance programs designed to help income-eligible households, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, active-duty military members and veterans.
For Ameren Illinois customers, the funding will support three programs:
- Warm Neighbors Cool Friends: Provides matching grant assistance to help income-qualified households pay their energy bills.
- Non-Residential Hardship Program: Provides assistance to small businesses and nonprofit organizations experiencing financial hardship. The program is being relaunched.
- Ameren Illinois Military Program: Provides assistance grants to active-duty military members and veterans. The program is also being relaunched.
The assistance can help eligible customers reduce past-due balances, manage high bills and avoid falling further behind on payments.
“Every customer deserves access to safe, reliable energy, especially during difficult financial moments,” said Kim Bond, manager of customer assistance for Ameren Illinois. She said the additional funding is intended to help families maintain essential energy service while working toward greater financial stability.
Through September 2026, Ameren customers had received more than $107 million in total energy assistance. The company also offers energy efficiency and weatherization programs to help customers better manage their energy use.
