AAA says Illinois drivers saw a small dip at the pump Tuesday, but prices remain sharply higher than last year. The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fell to $4.67, down three cents from Monday’s $4.70. That is still slightly above last week’s average of $4.65 — and far above the $3.21 average from one year ago. Diesel prices also eased, slipping one cent to $6.57 per gallon statewide. A year ago, diesel in Illinois averaged $3.70. The latest numbers show fuel costs remain a major strain for commuters, businesses, and truckers across the state.
