Illinois families struggling with energy costs are being urged to apply for help with utility bills. Governor J.B. Pritzker says eligible households can receive assistance through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, known as LIHEAP. The program helps cover natural gas, propane, and electricity bills, with one-time payments made directly to energy providers on behalf of approved recipients. Applications are available online or in person and will remain open through August 13th of next year, or until funding runs out. Illinois has 240 million dollars available to help income-eligible families keep essential energy services connected.
