The Federal Trade Commission, Illinois, and eleven other states have reached a 35-million-dollar settlement with pesticide maker Corteva. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul says the agreement should help lower pesticide prices for farmers in Illinois and nationwide. His office says about 7-point-5 million dollars is expected to be returned to affected Illinois farmers. Under the settlement, Corteva must dismantle its current pesticide loyalty program. Officials say that program limited distributors’ ability to work with generic competitors after Corteva patents expired. Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin were among the states joining Illinois and the FTC in the case.
