MAROA, Ill. — Sean Martin is returning to lead the Maroa-Forsyth baseball program.
Maroa-Forsyth High School announced Sunday that Martin has been hired as the Trojans’ head baseball coach, bringing back a coach who previously guided the program to a pair of IHSA Class 2A state finals appearances.
Martin’s most recent run with Maroa-Forsyth included a 32-3 season and a fourth-place state finish in 2022.
Two years later, the Trojans went 27-5, winning regional, sectional and super-sectional championships before advancing to the Class 2A state championship game and finishing as the state runner-up.
Martin also led Maroa-Forsyth to multiple regional championships during his previous tenure and was named the Macon County Coach of the Year in 2004.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sean back to lead Trojan baseball,” Maroa-Forsyth Athletic Director Phil Applebee said in the school’s release. “His accomplishments speak for themselves, but what makes this such an exciting hire is the caliber of leader he is.”
Applebee also cited Martin’s familiarity with the school and community, along with his ability to develop student-athletes.
Martin now returns to a program with which he has already enjoyed significant postseason success as Maroa-Forsyth prepares for the 2027 baseball season.
