Gas prices are climbing again, putting more pressure on Illinois drivers. AAA reports the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Illinois rose ten cents in just one day, from $4.53 on Tuesday to nearly $4.63 on Wednesday. Nationwide, the average also increased, moving from $4.33 to $4.37. The jump is even sharper compared with last year, when Illinois drivers were paying about $3.44 a gallon, and the national average was $3.19. Diesel prices remain especially high. In Illinois, diesel reached $6.26 Wednesday, up four cents from Tuesday, while the national diesel average hit $6.31.
