Illinois AG Raoul Pleased with Restraining Order in CDL Suit

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is applauding a federal judge’s temporary restraining order blocking the Trump administration from accessing a database with personal information on about 17 million commercial drivers. Raoul joined a coalition of more than 20 states challenging the move, arguing the federal government threatened to cut more than 10 million dollars in funding to the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators unless it turned over the data. The states say the database contains sensitive driver information and should not be handed over without proper legal safeguards. The court order pauses federal access while the case continues.
