A Decatur man is facing additional charges after police say he assaulted hospital staff while awaiting booking.
Decatur Police say 23-year-old Michael Fiorito was arrested August 20th on residential arson charges. Officers took him to Decatur Memorial Hospital for treatment before jail intake.
Police say the next day, Fiorito began damaging property in his hospital room and assaulted several staff members. No one was seriously injured, but damage was estimated in the thousands.
Fiorito is due in court Monday.
