Hunters looking for a tree stand this season will have an opportunity to bid on one at Lake Shelbyville later this month.
Friends of Lake Shelbyville will hold a silent auction for approximately 25 impounded deer stands and climbing sticks on Saturday, August 28 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The auction will take place at the government vehicle compound, located south of the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center.
The stands being auctioned include two-person ladder stands, single-person ladder stands and mobile hunting stands.
Anyone interested in bidding will be able to inspect the stands and climbing sticks during the viewing period. Bidders will complete a bid sheet with their contact information, the stand numbers they are interested in and their bid amounts. A liability waiver must also be completed.
Sealed bids will be opened promptly at 10:30 a.m., with the winning bidders announced at 11 a.m.
If the highest bidder is not present, the stand will be awarded to the next-highest bidder. Stands will not be held for later pickup under any circumstances.
Proceeds from the auction will help support Lake Shelbyville’s annual Youth Deer Hunt in October and Disabled Deer Hunt in November.
