Residents interested in running for office in Mt. Zion in the 2027 Consolidated Election can now pick up nominating petitions at Mt. Zion Village Hall.
Petitions are available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Three positions will be on the ballot in the April 6th, 2027 election. They include one mayoral seat with a four-year term, along with three four-year trustee seats and two two-year trustee seats.
Candidates can begin circulating nominating petitions on August 25th. Petitions must include the signatures of 28 registered voters.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, registered voters, at least 18 years old and have lived in Mt. Zion for at least one year before the election.
Nominating petitions can be filed at Village Hall beginning November 16th through November 20th during regular business hours. Filing will also be available on November 23rd from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mt. Zion officials say candidates should review all applicable election laws, requirements and deadlines before circulating or filing nominating paperwork.
