A Decatur man is facing multiple charges after police say a hidden camera was discovered inside a women’s restroom at a local restaurant.
According to investigators, employees contacted police on August 2nd after finding suspicious devices in the restroom. Police say the devices were located under a sink and behind a mirror.
Investigators later determined that one of the devices was a camera. They say a memory card inside the camera contained 84 videos.
Police say one of those videos allegedly showed restaurant employee William J. Wilson installing the device. Wilson was arrested on August 11th.
Authorities also say they searched Wilson’s home and found additional hidden-camera devices, along with a laptop.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police say Wilson is now facing multiple charges in connection with the case.
Police said a forensic review of the laptop found images from previous camera placements in the same restroom.
The sworn statement said detectives also found approximately 611 images of suspected child sexual abuse material on the computer.
Wilson is charged with five counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, stalking and unauthorized video recording.
Court records show that he was denied pretrial release and will return to court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 2.
