Pritzker Signs Laws to Help Protect Women, Domestic Violence Survivors

Illinois is moving to strengthen protections for women and survivors of domestic violence. Governor J.B. Pritzker has signed two new measures into law. One focuses on women’s health by improving menopause education for health care professionals, aiming to help providers better recognize symptoms and support patients through treatment options. The second law expands protections for domestic violence survivors facing technology-based abuse. Protection orders can now include digital harassment, such as online threats or electronic monitoring, and the measure also removes barriers that may prevent survivors from obtaining orders against their abusers. State leaders say the laws reflect changing health and safety needs.
