Corn Growers Express Concern as Farm Bill Stalls

Illinois corn growers are voicing frustration after the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry failed to advance a new farm bill before leaving for its August recess. Illinois Corn Growers Association President Mark Bunselmeyer says the delay leaves farmers and the broader agriculture industry facing more uncertainty, with the current farm bill extension set to expire September thirtieth. The association says producers need clear policy direction as they plan for the future. Bunselmeyer says the ICGA is urging Congress to continue refining the legislation while preserving the bipartisan support needed to get a farm bill across the finish line.
