Pritzker Encourages Illinoisians to Participate in Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday

Illinois families preparing for the new school year can get a break at the register during the state’s Back-to-School Tax Holiday. Governor J.B. Pritzker says Illinois will waive the state sales tax on qualifying back-to-school necessities from August 7th through August 16th. The 10-day holiday applies to eligible items such as clothing, footwear, and school supplies, whether purchased online or in stores. State officials estimate shoppers will save about 10 million dollars during the period. Pritzker says the goal is to help families stretch their budgets as students return to classrooms across Illinois.
