Decatur boaters will soon see major improvements at Nelson Park. The Decatur City Council approved a nearly 800-thousand-dollar project Monday night to upgrade the park’s boat ramps and docks. According to the City of Decatur, the ramps are expected to close beginning September 14th. Crews will replace the current ramps with new launching lanes designed to improve efficiency and safety. The docks will also be replaced with floating, ADA-compliant docks. The city hopes to complete the project by April 2027.
