United Airlines is delaying its planned return to University of Illinois-Willard Airport. Airport officials say the carrier will not begin flights between Champaign-Urbana and Chicago O’Hare in October as previously expected. In a statement, Willard Airport said United remains committed to serving the Champaign-Urbana community, though no new start date was announced. The delay leaves American Airlines as the current provider of commercial service between Willard and Chicago. Airport leaders say they’ll continue working with United on future options, while travelers needing Chicago connections can still use American’s existing flights from Willard.
