Decatur Police are investigating a shooting incident after more than 40 shell casings were found early Saturday morning.
Officers were called to the BP Hotspot on Eldorado Street just after 4 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the area. When police arrived, they began checking the BP parking lot and the nearby roadway, but say they did not find any shell casings there.
The investigation then moved to the area east of the BP building. Police say that is where officers discovered 45 spent shell casings in the parking lots of the Hardee’s and Sunrise Café.
Authorities say at least one nearby home was struck by gunfire during the incident. No injuries were reported.
Decatur Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone who may have seen something, heard something, or has information about the shooting to come forward.
