IDOT Reminds Drivers About Roadside Mowing Season

The Illinois Department of Transportation is urging drivers to use extra caution as roadside mowing operations continue across the state. Crews are active throughout the summer, with the heaviest work expected to run through August 15th. IDOT says mowing is done in two main ways: safety mowing near the edge of the roadway when needed, and maintenance mowing around culverts, ditches, traffic control devices, and other roadside structures. Drivers are reminded to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and be prepared for slower-moving vehicles near highways and shoulders. Officials say patience can help keep both motorists and crews safe.
