Pritzker Announces IDNR Leadership Change

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is making a leadership change at the Department of Natural Resources. The governor announced IDNR Director Natalie Phelps Finnie will be replaced on July 1 by Renee Snow, the agency’s current general counsel. Finnie has led the department since January 2023, after previously serving as a state representative from 2017 to 2019. Snow brings a decade of experience within the department, having worked at IDNR since 2014. The transition places a longtime agency attorney in charge of the department responsible for managing Illinois’ parks, wildlife, conservation programs, and natural resources policy.
