Gas prices are easing across the country, with the national average dropping below four dollars a gallon for the first time since late March. Illinois drivers are also seeing relief, though prices remain above the national mark. AAA reports the state average stood at $4.24 a gallon Friday. Month over month, Illinois prices have fallen about 80 cents, a steeper drop than the 56-cent decline seen nationally. Vice President J.D. Vance told media Thursday that negotiations with Iran and a tentative deal to end the conflict have helped fuel prices begin a steady decline.
