Gas prices are easing across Illinois, but drivers are still paying far more than they did a year ago. AAA reports the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded is now $4.45, down 22 cents from last week’s $4.67. Still, that’s more than a dollar higher than the $3.41 average recorded one year ago. Nationally, regular unleaded is averaging $4.13 a gallon. Diesel prices are also moving lower in Illinois, now averaging $5.58, down from $6.02 a month ago. But diesel remains sharply higher than last year’s $3.51 average, with the national diesel average at $5.28.
