Legislation seeking to tighten rules on e-bikes and other micromobility devices is advancing in Illinois. Senate Bill 3336, which passed the state House Wednesday evening, targets electric bikes, scooters, and similar devices. The measure would require operators to be at least 16 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and register their vehicles with the state. Advocates say these rules aim to enhance safety and clarify who can use these devices on public roads. The bill now returns to the state Senate for concurrence before it can go to the governor’s desk for final approval.
