The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation has arrested 54-year-old Michael Boliard of Decatur following a tense standoff in which he allegedly aimed a crossbow at officers. Police responded to a call on April 22 in the 400 block of E. William Street and, after confronting Boliard, fired their weapons, striking him. Officers administered medical assistance before Boliard was transported to the hospital. After his release on May 5, Boliard was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault of a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and armed violence. The investigation remains active.
