DOJ Launching Investigation into Gender Ideology in Pre-K-12 Schools in Illinois

The U.S. Department of Justice has announced investigations into 36 Illinois public school districts, focusing on the presence of sexual orientation and gender ideology content in classrooms from pre-K through twelfth grade. Officials will review if parents were properly informed about their right to opt their children out of related lessons. Another aspect of the investigation examines whether school districts restrict access to single-sex bathrooms, locker rooms, and participation in girls’ sports teams exclusively based on biological sex. Notably, Bloomington Public Schools District 87 is among the districts facing federal scrutiny as these inquiries get underway.
