ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS SUMMERFIELD MAN FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER AFTER SHOOTING DEATH OF HIS SON

Illinois State Police have arrested 49-year-old Anthony L. Powe of Summerfield in connection with a fatal shooting in East St. Louis. Authorities were called to the intersection of 22nd and Market Streets, where they discovered 31-year-old Devonta A. McCray of Belleville deceased inside a vehicle from apparent gunshot wounds. A second victim was also found nearby with similar injuries. Following their investigation, police identified Powe, who is McCray’s father, as the suspect. He faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder, and is being held at St. Clair County Jail while awaiting his first court appearance.
