Ex-Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Teacher Pleads Guilty To Sexually Abusing Student

A former Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley teacher will serve four years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a student. Robert Dinkins entered a guilty plea to aggravated criminal sexual abuse following an arrest in Macon, Georgia, last June. The investigation began in March when the parents of a GCMS student reported inappropriate text messages from Dinkins. Authorities determined that Dinkins engaged in sexual activities with a student who was underage. The school district has since cooperated fully with law enforcement. Dinkins will be required to register as a sex offender following his release from prison.
