Chicago’s historic DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center has been awarded $1.9 million in state funding. Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza, alongside museum leaders and local officials, presented the check during a ceremony on Friday. The funding was secured in the recently passed state budget, according to a statement from State Representative Kimberly DuBuclet. Museum officials say the money will support ongoing education and cultural programming, as well as facility improvements. Leaders and community members expressed gratitude for the investment, highlighting its significance in preserving and promoting African American history and culture in the city.
