Macon Co Sheriff’s Office Warns Public About Phone Scam
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a phone scam. Citizens have reported receiving suspicious phone calls from individuals identifying themselves as officials from Macon County asking for money. The phone calls have been identified as scams since Macon County never calls asking for money to pay for fines or services. The first scam call is from a male individual identifying himself as a representative of Pre-Trial Services for Macon County. The second is a male voice identifying himself as Lieutenant Jamie Belcher. Anyone who receives a similar call should hang up.
