Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois Announces 2025-26 School Year Club
Sites Amid Funding Challenges
SPRINGFIELD, IL – As shifting federal priorities and stalled grant funding continue to impact
after-school programs nationwide, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois (BGCCIL) remains
steadfast in its mission to provide safe, enriching, and impactful after-school programming for
local youth.
Despite facing significant funding challenges, BGCCIL will continue serving students at several
grant-supported schools across District 186 in Springfield and District 117 in Jacksonville. Those
schools include:
• District 186: Owen Marsh Elementary School, Ball Charter School, and Sandburg
Elementary School
• District 117: North Jacksonville Elementary School and Murrayville Woodson
Elementary School
Thanks to the generosity of community donors, BGCCIL will also maintain programming at
several additional schools that are no longer covered by federal grants:
• District 186: Matheny-Withrow Elementary School and Harvard Park Elementary
School
• District 117: Washington Elementary and South Elementary
The organization’s Central Unit, located at 300 S. 15th Street in Springfield, will remain open
and fully operational.
“Our ability to maintain services at these five donor-supported sites is a direct result of the
community’s belief in our mission,” said [Tiffany Mathis Posey, BGCCIL Chief Executive
Officer. “We remain dedicated to expanding these services further, should funding and
partnership opportunities arise.”
Programs at all Club locations will begin on Monday, August 18. Families can register their
children at one of the following “Back to the Club” events:
• August 7 – Jacksonville- Futures Champions Sports Complex, 5 Kelly Dr, Noon -2pm
• August 14 – Springfield- GCCIL Central Unit, 300 S.15th St., Noon – 4:00 pm
BGCCIL encourages community members to show their support by attending the organization’s
Great Futures Gala on October 16, the organization’s premier fundraising event. Attendance
and sponsorships directly fund Club programming and help reach even more children in need.
“Our doors – and our hearts – remain open to the children and families of our community,”
added Mathis Posey. “We are committed to building great futures – no matter the obstacles.”
