Illinoisans Reminded To Replace Broken Smoke, CO Alarms
(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois State Fire Marshal is reminding Illinoisans to test, inspect, and replace broken or expired smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes. Officials recommend residents replace the alarms with new ten-year sealed battery alarms while they change the clocks this weekend for Daylight Saving Time. The National Fire Protection Association reports nearly three out of every five home fire deaths in the U.S. resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or non-working smoke alarms.
