Driver Charged In State Trooper’s Death After Highway Accident
(Wilmington, IL) — A Wilmington man is facing charges after a fatal crash involving a State Trooper Monday. Monday morning, Trooper Clay M. Carns was picking up debris from an earlier crash along the southbound right lane of I-55 north of Blodgett Road near Channahon. Trooper Carns died at the hospital later Monday night. Now, John Fleet is charged with violating the state’s move-over law, also known as Scott’s Law, requiring drivers to move over when approaching emergency vehicles.
