No New Trial For Decatur Woman Convicted Of Killing Son
(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Supreme Court isn’t granting a new trial for a Decatur woman convicted of killing her 19-month-old son in 2019. Jessica Logan is currently in prison for the murder of 19-month-old Jayden Comage. An Assistant Appellate Defender told the state’s high court earlier this year that Jessica Logan deserves a new trial because law enforcement and a DCFS investigator never read her Miranda rights before they had her reenact her son’s death in his bedroom. The state supreme court found that the Miranda violation wasn’t a structural error and the remaining evidence against Logan was overwhelming.
