Sangamon Co Sheriff Believes It Would Be ‘Irresponsible’ To Resign Over Massey Shooting
(Springfield, IL) — Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell believes it would be “irresponsible” to resign following the deadly shooting of Sonya Massey last month. Speaking to The State Journal-Register, Campbell said he has the drive to bring justice for Massey, the community, and for his deputies. Many called for his resignation after Massey was shot and killed on July 6th by former deputy Sean Grayson, who is charged with murder. Campbell said his department was “betrayed” by Grayson for what he did since he had the same training as them.
