(Springfield, IL) — Cash bails is ending in Illinois on Monday. The change is part of the landmark SAFE-T Act, which eliminates cash bail for criminal defendants awaiting trial. The Illinois Supreme Court upheld the law in July after dozens of states’ attorneys challenged it.
