Illinois Brothers Sentenced To Prison For Role In Jan 6th Capitol Breach
(Washington, DC) — Two Illinois brothers are going to prison for taking part in the January 6th U.S. Capitol riots in 2021. Daniel Leyden of Chicago was sentenced to 38 months behind bars, while Joseph Leyden of La Grange received a six-month sentence. Prosecutors say the brothers were among the rioters who were illegally on the Capitol grounds. Daniel was in a crowd that lifted and pushed metal barricades, which caused a police officer to fall backwards and be pinned under a barricade. Joseph Leyden is accused of lunging at and pushing an officer. Both pleaded guilty to a felony charge.
