Man Who Pleaded Guilty In Capitol Riot Charged In Deadly I-55 Crash
A Central Illinois man who pleaded guilty in the U.S. Capitol riot last year is facing charges in a deadly wrong-way crash on I-55 earlier this month in Sangamon County. A grand jury indicted Shane Woods on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated DUI causing death, and DUI. Woods was facing federal prison time before prosecutors say he made a drunken suicide attempt on I-55 on November 8th. However, he collided with a vehicle being driven by Lauren Wegner, who was killed in the crash. The 35-year-old woman was born and raised in Skokie, Illinois.
