Police Reveal Names Of Officers Involved In Deadly Decatur Shootout

Authorities are releasing the names of the officers involved a deadly shootout last week in Decatur. Police say Sergeant Timothy Wittmer and Officer Austin Bowman were shot while exchanging gunfire with Jamontey Neal during a traffic stop last Wednesday in the 13-hundred block of East Walnut. The other officers involved in the shootout were Officer Ryan Ricker and Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Wolfe. Neal died as a result of the incident, while Wittmer and Bowman were treated and released from the hospital. Neither Officer Ricker nor Deputy Wolfe were shot.
