Man Flees From Police, Tries To Take Officer’s Gun In Springfield
A man is facing numerous charges after being accused of fleeing from police and trying to take an officer’s gun in Springfield. Authorities say police conducted a traffic stop yesterday on Deandre Townes in the 700 block of South Durkin Drive. Townes ran away and officers chased after him. During the pursuit, the suspect took an officer to the ground and tried to remove the officer’s firearm from the holster, which caused it to discharge. He was arrested and drugs were found on him.
