Illinois Cannabis Commission is Proposed
A Chicago area lawmaker thinks the state needs a separate commission to simplify the state’s regulation of the legal cannabis industry. The commission would be similar to the state’s liquor and gaming commissions that are now in place. State Representative Marcus Evans says his proposal would simplify the number of state agencies that cannabis entrepreneurs must work with in order to become licensed. There are 177 dispensaries that have been licensed by the state since adult-use sales of cannabis became legal two years ago.
