Representative Urging Schools To Opt Out Of State’s Sex Ed Curriculum
A state lawmaker is pushing for schools to remove sex education from their curriculums. Last August, Governor JB Pritzker signed a law requiring schools to teach a new sex ed curriculum under the National Sex Education Standards. Now, Republican State Representative Adam Niemerg from Dieterich is calling that curriculum “obscene,” calling on local school boards to establish their own guidelines outside of the state’s. Districts the option to do that and those that do not teach sex education are not tied to the new state standards.
